Vehicles now a days are becoming more and more like computers. Just like computers, sometimes they need a little reboot to get them back on track. That’s the case when it comes to a Master Reset on Ford’s MyFord Touch infotainment system. While experiencing an issue where you need to perform a Master Reset is few and far between, knowing how to reset your MyFord Touch system will help you to get up and running again in no time. Here are some situations where you may need to perform a Master Reset of your MyFord Touch system, as well as an easy to follow step by step guide on how reset your MyFord Touch system.

When A Master Reset May Come In Handy

The system isn’t operating like normal.

Your phone isn’t connecting properly, even after attempting a reverse pair.

The USB port isn’t finding your media player.

Performing A Master Reset

Access your Settings Menu by clicking the cogs located next to the Home Button

Select Settings from the list on the right side of the screen

Select System at the top of the list

Scroll down until you see Master Reset, then press it.

WARNING!!!

Performing a Master Reset will restore your system to the factory default settings and will erase any bluetooth devices you have paired to your MyFord Touch system. Once the system has been reset, you will need to pair all bluetooth devices again. The Master Reset will not adjust your radio presets, it will only adjust your settings and revert them back to default.

NOTE: This isn’t the magical fix, if your vehicle isn’t the root of the problem, then rebooting will not solve anything. Consult Ford’s 10 Easy DIY Microsoft SYNC Setups and Fixes before performing a Master Reset to be sure you’ve tried all other possible solutions. We sure would hate for you to have to reset your settings and devices for nothing.

Perhaps it’s the sport’s blue-collar roots, or maybe it’s the fact that tracks are generally oval or tri-oval in shape, instead of laden with complex left and right corners. Maybe it’s the fact that (in recent years) the cars all looked more or less alike, or that they don’t handle or stop particularly well compared to other forms of professional racing.

Whatever the reason, NASCAR doesn’t seem to get much respect from road-racing or Formula One fans. That certainly hasn’t impacted its popularity among the stock car faithful, as NASCAR is the second most popular professional sport in the United States, behind only NFL football.

It’s broadcast in over 150 countries, too, meaning that it isn’t just Americans and transplanted Americans cheering for drivers like Juan Pablo Montoya, Tony Stewart, Jimmie Johnson and Jeff Gordon.

As for the drivers, some come from open-wheel racing backgrounds (like Tony Stewart and Sam Hornish, Jr.) and some have even raced in F1 (like Montoya and Scott Speed). Unlike the old days, however, we’d bet that no current driver got his start by running moonshine on the back roads of Georgia.

If you’re new to the sport of racing and want a basic overview of NASCAR, the infographic below may help. There isn’t much meat there (aside from the flag and track listings), but it may inspire you to seek out more information.

If you want a piece of Nascar in your driveway, stop by and test-drive the 2012 Ford Mustang.

Ford has claimed top honors on the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s fuel efficiency list, exceeding 100 miles per gallon equivalent (MGPe).

The Detroit automaker announced that the EPA had certified its 2012 Ford Focus Electric with 110 miles per gallon equivalent (MPGe) city rating and 99 MPGe on the highway. Your driving habits will help determine whether you’ll be able to go further than the Ford’s EPA approved 76-mile range. Ford says that a Focus Electric may be driven up to 100 miles on a single charge.

Competitors offer nearly equivalent performance with Nissan’s Leaf having achieved a 106-mpg city/92 mpg highway rating and the Chevy Volt offering an estimated 93 MPGe.

Ford is making a strategic bet on high efficiency vehicles with fuel pricing on the rise. Its 2013 Ford Fusion hybrid will exceed 100 MPGe in electric mode. Ford’s conventional vehicles all rate highly in fuel efficiency. According to a Ford press release on Friday:

2013 Fusion 1.6-liter EcoBoost: Projected 37 mpg highway that would make it America’s most fuel-efficient non-rechargeable midsize sedan

2013 Escape 1.6-liter EcoBoost: Expected to be the most fuel-efficient crossover of its kind with 33 mpg highway

2013 Taurus 2.0-liter EcoBoost: Expected to deliver best-in-class 31 mpg highway

2012 Edge 2.0-liter EcoBoost: Delivers 30 mpg highway, besting all SUVs its size or larger and even some cars such as the Honda Civic Si

2012 Explorer 2.0-liter EcoBoost: One of the most fuel-efficient seven-passenger SUVs on the market, delivering 28 mpg highway

2013 Fusion Energi plug-in hybrid: Aiming to become the world’s most fuel-efficient midsize sedan with a projected 100 MPGe rating

2013 Fusion Hybrid: Expected to become the world’s most fuel-efficient non-rechargeable midsize sedan with 47 mpg

2012 Fiesta: Offers up to 40 mpg highway and class-leading 33 mpg combined rating

2012 F-150: The most fuel-efficient full-size pickup, with V6 models delivering best-in-class 23 mpg highway and 17 mpg city

100 MPG is a major milestone to some Washington lawmakers. Last month House Republicans proposed incentivizing automakers with a US$1 billion prize for selling in excess of 60,000 gasoline-powered cars.

When it comes to iconic police cars, few in the history of the automobile rival the beloved Ford Crown Victoria, cherished by police departments everywhere for its comfort, versatility and indestructible reputation.

Department mechanics loved the cars, too, since spare parts were both cheap and ubiquitous, thanks to the Panther platform’s popularity among taxi fleets and car services, too.

Nothing lasts forever, and Ford has built its last Crown Vic. For law enforcement, the car has been replaced by two vehicles, one based on the Ford Taurus sedan and a second based on the Ford Explorer SUV.

Bad news, Chicagoans: Mayor Rahm Emanual has announced that the city will buy some 500 new Ford Police Interceptor Sedans and Utilities, representing the largest law-enforcement order of the new vehicles to date.

It’s a win for Ford’s Chicago assembly plant as well, since both the sedan and utility vehicle are built at the plant. The city of Chicago stands to realize significant savings in fuel costs, since the new Ford police vehicles are up to 20 percent more fuel efficient than the model they replace.

Ford offers its Police Interceptor Sedan in front-wheel-drive, powered by a 3.5-liter V-6 good for some 263 horsepower, or in all-wheel-drive, powered by an EcoBoost twin-turbo V-6 that produces “at least” 365 horsepower. The Police Interceptor Utility gets a 3.7-liter, 300 horsepower V-6 powering all four wheels.

For police duty, both front and rear seats have been revised for maximum occupant safety. Ford’s new police vehicles also come with the latest in safety advances, including an optimized AdvanceTrac ESC system, a blind spot alert system, cross-traffic alert and a rear view camera system.

We’re not sure when Chicago will begin to take delivery of its new police cars, but if you’re traveling through the area you may want to familiarize yourself with the new vehicles’ shapes. That Taurus or Explorer closing on you at warp speed may not be as innocent as it first looks.

Ford has adopted a new ad slogan designed to ward off complacency after successful run of nearly six years. The company is reportedly retiring its “Drive One” tag line for “Go Further,” which will be used in marketing campaigns in both the U.S. and Europe. Ford had been using the line “Feel the Difference” in the EU. The company says its old slogans were designed to convince buyers to give Ford products a look after the automaker rebounded from near bankruptcy. Executives now say the manufacturer is in an entirely different place in its history and that it’s time for a slogan that reflects that position.

When it came time to craft the company’s new tag line, Ford apparently specifically looked at Nike’s “Just Do It” and McDonald’s “I’m Lovin’ It” as inspiration. While “Drive One” is on its way out the door, the internal “One Ford” will continue to soldier on as an indicator of the company’s global strategy.

Year-end sales bring out the crowds. Be prepared.
Before you go out this week to take advantage of one of the end-of-year clearance sales at your local car dealer, read these five rules of negotiation put together by the experts and editors at AOL Autos:

1. Research the vehicle or vehicles that you want thoroughly on a website such as AOL Autos. Our site will take you to the specific make-and-model page for the vehicle you like, allow you to spec the equipment you want and tell you the best deal we can find for you.

2. When you go to the dealership, be relaxed. Carry yourself with confidence. Remember, a car salesperson does this every day and is an expert. That is leverage over you in the negotiation. If you look and sound confident, it will begin to tip the scales to a more even balance.

3. Never negotiate your actual transaction price down from the sticker price. Always know the invoice price (which you can find on our model pages right here at AOL Autos) and negotiate up from that. Never raise your bid until the salesperson has counter-offered on the first bid you make. Never raise your bid by more than a $100-$200 increment.

4. When it comes to financing, go to the dealership knowing what you can get from your local bank or credit union, regardless of whether the car is new or used. Get the lowest rate you can find and start with that. If the dealer is offering zero-percent financing, have a good idea before you go in how much that is worth on the loan and terms you are planning on so you know whether to take the zero-percent financing or the rebate(s) the dealer is offering. Make those calculations yourself. Don’t let the salesperson tell you.

5. This is the most important rule. Go into the dealership ready to walk out without a car. Don’t fall in love in the showroom, and don’t rush it. If you are thrown curveballs you aren’t ready for, or you don’t like the way the process is going, just excuse yourself and leave. Remember, nothing is stopping you from getting out of the showroom. Go home to gather your thoughts and research what you weren’t prepared for. The dealer will be open the next day.

Car buying is a pressure-packed activity, especially if you are in a position where, for whatever reason, you need a car in your life as soon as humanly possible.

Following these few tips, however, will allow you to make a smart decision and will eliminate the majority of the stress that comes with this process. It’s a big, intimidating purchase, especially if you’re buying for the first time, but this little bit of homework will make it much easier to handle.

Now go out there and get that deal!

Ken Block had a busy summer. The exhibition driver spent the season frolicking around the globe with a few friends and putting on Gymkhana shows as part of a world tour. The event showed up in just three cities; Los Angeles, Vienna and Melbourne, and gave a handful of lucky Block fans a show worth remembering. But with so few shoes spread across such a wide distance, that left plenty of the driver’s faithful out in the cold. Ever the publicist, Block crafted a video for those who couldn’t make it out to breathe the tire smoke.

The result is three shows crammed into less than six minutes of footage. There’s plenty of sideways Ford Fiesta action as well as airborne motocross riders, scantily clad ladies of multiple nat

While you can get an idea of what you like and dislike about a car in a short test drive, you can’t pick up on the minor characteristics that eventually turn into major annoyances until you’ve logged some serious time behind the wheel of a car. What drives you insane about your car?

Whether you drive the car of your dreams on a regular basis or something significantly less exciting, we are willing to bet regular use has likely revealed something about said vehicle that you aren’t so fond of. It may be a minor design flaw or a major reason you are looking for another car, but we’re guessing in the hours you’ve spent behind the wheel of your car you have managed to come up with something you would have done differently. This weekend we want to hear all about it.

No matter how big or how small, we want to hear what drives you insane about your car (no pun intended). Whatever it might be, you can tell us. Perhaps your car is grossly underpowered or could have used another gear. Maybe you just think your vehicle’s cup holders were designed in an immensely stupid manner (like my 1994 Honda). Big or small, if it annoys you, it counts.
